Waste and resource management

Waste and resource management

We work with clients during both the construction and operational phases of development, providing advice that focuses on waste minimisation through effective categorisation and prevention. Better management of waste promotes sustainable, efficient development, helping to minimise cost by maximising value through effective recycling or recovery schemes.

Our services include:

Waste management servicing: we work with developers, architects and local authorities to ensure appropriate waste infrastructure is incorporated into development and an efficient servicing and logistics regime is identified.

Implementing waste policy: we support our clients in the production of waste strategies to demonstrate how proposals comply and support national and local waste policy.

Waste classification: we undertake robust interpretative studies, based on a desk study to identify the hazardous substances that might be present (there is no “standard suite” for waste classification) and an appropriately designed sampling and analysis plan. We use HazwasteonlineTM to determine whether the material is Hazardous or Non Hazardous and assign the six digit European List of Waste code. We are cognizant of the guidance given in WM3 and also provide an assessment of whether the conclusion regarding the classification using the upper confidence limit is statistically valid.

Resource efficiency reviews: we complete site inspections and data analysis to determine opportunities that can achieve cost and carbon savings through material, waste and energy reductions.

Site waste and materials management: we help our clients identify opportunities for designing out waste, minimising contributions to landfill.

Our team of Chartered Waste Managers, understand the demands of both our private and public sector clients, enabling us to offer innovative advice and practical waste solutions.
