We adopt a landscape-led approach to working with clients, stakeholders and communities which successfully unlocks development opportunities, helping to realise value by locating development in places that makes best use of the land available.

Our services include:

Feasibility advice: we provide early advice on sites in sensitive landscapes to assist clients in determining land options, identifying development capacity and informing emerging masterplans.

Landscape / townscape appraisals: we identify landscape opportunities and constraints and advise on the most relevant form, scale and siting of new development and infrastructure.

Landscape / townscape and Visual Impact Assessment: we fully and transparently assess landscape effects, while ensuring our impact assessment is presented in a manner that is proportional to the size and type of development proposed.

Green infrastructure: we specify green infrastructure as an integral part of new development to provide social, economic, health and environmental benefits in multi-functional landscapes. We work with ecology and water level management teams to deliver functional, integrated green-blue infrastructure.

Landscape design: we bring together architecture, setting and space to create a unique sense of place and an attractive and coherent environment.

Expert witness: we understand the need for robust evidence and provide expert witness services in relation to landscape issues for planning committees, select committees, informal hearings, examinations in public and local plan inquiries.

PBA is a registered practice with the Landscape Institute and our senior landscape team comprises chartered members of the Landscape Institute (CMLI). Our advice is based upon extensive professional experience and the principles set out in the Guidelines for Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment (3rd edition).
