Appointed through the Homes England Framework, PBA is providing civil, structural and MEP engineering services alongside air quality, acoustics and geotechnical advice for the scheme, which seeks to provide circa 550 new dwellings and community facilities with extensive landscaping.

Key features of the development include the use of an on-site District Heating Network (DHN) and Sustainable Urban Drainage (SUDs) in order to achieve design functionality for sustainable development.

The scheme has also benefited from grant funds via the Housing Infrastructure Fund (HIF). A resolution to grant planning was received in March 2018 with designs being developed for main contractor tender in Summer 2018.

PBA is also actively involved in assisting the council with the procurement of an Energy Services Company (ESCo) for the delivery associated with the proposed DHN. This is set to be procured in conjunction with the development partner in order to mitigate against excessive changes during design development.

Active stakeholder engagement has been key to the project. Specific consideration and strategic definition has been undertaken associated with demolition and decanting of existing tenants from the Grange Farm Estate. During this process, PBA has been heavily involved in identifying a number of constraints and engineering solutions associated with phased construction delivery. This has included identifying likely infrastructure routing, partial building demolition and key infrastructure placement in order to identify an optimised enabling works package utilising our experience of construction delivery.
