PBA was involved in the early stages of this development after being appointed by Aggregate Industries UK to provide technical support for planning applications. After successfully gaining planning permission, the site was sold to Harrow Estates plc who engaged PBA to design and develop a complex ground improvement scheme to enable the development of 250 new homes.
PBA provided a multidisciplinary approach to deliver innovative solutions to transport planning to secure the development. By defining a sustainable transport strategy, PBA ensured the site was accessible by bicycle, foot and public transport from key destinations, unlocking access to and around this former quarry site.
The varied site history presented complex ground conditions requiring detailed ground investigations and innovative solutions. PBA designed and delivered a challenging enabling and earthworks scheme which included the excavation of up to 12m of sand fill from one end of the site, with subsequent placement at thicknesses of up to 7m at the other end.
PBA also provided project management and contract administration throughout the procurement and delivery of the enabling works scheme to successfully deliver the project on time and on budget.
