The second phase of site G will be our fourth commission over the last six years for Hyde Housing.
Bermondsey Spa is providing over 2,000 new homes (40% affordable), two health centres, youth and play facilities, 2.5 hectare of re-landscaped open space, shops and food retail.
We were initially involved on transport planning and enabling infrastructure advice. Traffic and transport advice was on the issued plot developments, negotiating with Transport for London for a new service route from Jamaica Road into the retail area. Phases D, E and G, respectively, consisted of eight, ten and five storeys. Ground floor parking and first floor podiums are provided on E & D.
Working closely with Hyde during the pre-planning phases, different concrete options were selected for each project to suit contractor preferences. We were novated to D & B contractors using JCT and PPC 2000 contracts. In the case of site ‘G’ we were directly appointed by the contractor.
Site D, the Bolonachi Building has a number of awards including ‘Best Regeneration Project Winner’ 2010. We provided noise, air quality, preliminary BREEAM assessment for the planning application, structural and civil engineering services.
