Steve joined PBA in January 2019 as Director of Civil Engineering and Director of Northern England. He is a Chartered Engineer with a degree in civil engineering.
Steve has extensive experience working for ‘blue chip’ consultants and contractors in the UK and internationally as a director, technical director, project director and other roles. His clients have included a mix of national and local clients in both the public and private sectors. Steve has expertise in design and build (inc ECI) major projects with a technical expertise on major cable supported bridges, tunnels, road and rail infrastructure (electrification and high-speed schemes). He has formed and managed joint ventures, both as consultant JV’s and contractor JV’s.
He has wide experience of programme management – PMC/PMO (Programme Management Company and Programme Management Organisation). He has also managed large teams of 200+ people, in various offices (UK and overseas) delivering a full range of contracting and consultancy services including, transport planning, civil and structural design and construction, environmental, economics, planning and consents.
Steve has also had a client focused role, developing and expanding services and skills for existing and new clients. He has a proven record in bidding, winning and delivering many small and large projects and has fostered trusting relationships with many consultants, contractors and clients. He is at ease on construction sites as well as in the office.
He has often advised clients on risk management and strategic approaches and direction of their schemes including providing design and build integration with buildability and safety in mind but also added value, whole life costs, operation and maintenance. He is passionate and enjoys mentoring and training colleagues and has lectured externally in schools, colleges and universities.
