Michael joined PBA in 2007 and is a Senior Associate in our Manchester office. He is a chartered town planner with a First-Class Master’s Degree in Town and Country Planning. He has extensive consultancy experience acting for a range of private and public sector clients including national and local housebuilders, strategic land development companies, private landowners and other commercial investors. Michael has a strong track record of successfully promoting sites through the development plan process and securing planning permission for a wide range of residential, supported living, retail and mixed-use schemes throughout the UK.
Michael provides commercially astute and robust planning advice at all stages of the development lifecycle, from initial site due diligence through to the planning application and discharge of condition stages. He leads multi-disciplinary technical teams in the production of planning applications for all types of development, with particular expertise in residential, supported living and extra care. He also appears at local plan examinations across the country and submits representations on behalf of clients to promote their land interests. He therefore has a thorough appreciation of planning and development delivery issues and is fully conversant with current planning policy guidance and legislation.
Michael also advises local authorities throughout the UK on the housing, retail, employment and leisure aspects of their planning policies, and is particularly experienced in preparing Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessments and other related housing studies. Michael has also been involved in a range of development feasibility studies, regeneration strategies and masterplans for private and public sector organizations.
