Chris has a career spanning more than 30 years in civil engineering and water management, and leads the water management team in Scotland. He has a degree in Civil Engineering from Nottingham Trent University and is a Chartered Engineer and member of the ICE and CIWEM.
Chris has extensive experience in SuDS (Sustainable Drainage Systems), surface water management planning, river restoration, flood risk assessments, flood protection schemes, drainage design, authorisations under Scottish water related environmental regulations, and EIA support for both public and private sector organisations, with a particular focus on sustainable and innovative approaches to water management and the development of green-blue infrastructure enhancing development masterplans.
Chris was lead author for the national guidance document for Scotland entitled ‘SuDS for Roads’, and a contributing author on Scottish Governments policy document - Designing streets.
Chris has worked on a number of projects which have been put forward for the Engineering Council – Environment Award for Engineers, BP AMOCO Chairman’s Award – Honouring Outstanding Achievements in Health, Safety and Environmental; and Performance, and SEPA's Habitat Enhancement Initiative Award.
