PBA joins forces with Stantec

10 September 2018

UK – Peter Brett Associates has joined forces with international consultancy Stantec in a move that will allow it to grow and diversify operations across the UK and beyond.

PBA announced it had signed a letter of intent to join Stantec on the 14 August. The transaction was finalised on 6 September and was witnessed by Paul Reilly, Managing Director, Peter Brett Associates, Keith Mitchell, Director, Community Development & Infrastructure, and Gord Johnston, Stantec President and CEO. Stantec is an international consultancy, headquartered in Canada, with a strong record of growth. It shares PBA’s growth ambitions in the UK and Europe, strong values and focus on community.

“This is a defining moment for PBA,” commented Paul Reilly. “As we join forces with Stantec we take a significant step towards securing greater opportunities and growth, meaning we will be able to offer a broader set of services to our clients and even better career development for our people. We’re excited to join the Stantec family and look forward to achieving our shared ambition."

“Both PBA and Stantec bring teams that possess a depth of expertise, experience, and passion for community. Together, our combined strengths will be essential to meet the growing opportunities in key UK markets,” said Gord Johnston, Stantec president and CEO. “Regionally, the project landscape is promising with the UK government’s policy to build 300,000 new homes per year, a five-year program to invest £4.4 billion ($7.4 billion CAD) in new and refurbished schools, a robust university upgrading initiative, and a major national investment program in UK infrastructure. These programs, paired with the existing role PBA is playing in projects like High Speed 2 and Crossrail 2, position us well for continued growth together."

In the UK, Stantec is the market leader in the water infrastructure sector - it also has a presence in energy and environmental services, and a niche health and education architecture business based in London. Like PBA, it is a multiple award winner, winning the NCE 'Best Place to Work For' award two out of the last three years.

“We were looking for a strategic partner to work with in pursuit of our growth strategy, whose culture, values and strategy were aligned with ours,” said Keith Mitchell. “Stantec’s strategy to grow in the UK and Europe, and diversify into the community development and infrastructure market is a great fit with PBA’s strategy of diversification and growth. Both firms see the potential that could be unleashed.”

Stantec has over 22,000 team members worldwide, with over 1,000 professional services staff based around the UK. PBA will collaborate with this team to continue to create communities that benefit people and support economic growth across the country.

Notes for Editors:

PBA was advised through the process by KPMG, Addleshaw Goddard and BDO.
