UK – PBA, now part of Stantec, has been shortlisted for the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM) ‘Best Practice - Large-scale Nature Conservation’ 2019 Award.
The shortlisting is based on work PBA’s Ecology team carried out for the Green Park Biodiversity Benchmarking project. PBA has been involved with Green Park at Junction 11 of the M4 since the early 1980s providing engineering and hydrological advice that has seen low-grade agricultural fields develop into one of the foremost business parks in the UK.
PBA’s Ecology team has worked closely with successive owners of Green Park to enhance biodiversity value and create a place for business users and the local community to enjoy. These achievements were acknowledged in 2015, when Green Park was awarded the Wildlife Trust’s Biodiversity Benchmark – making it the only business park in the UK to hold such an accolade.
PBA’s involvement with the Park continues, ensuring the Benchmark is retained through continued enhancement of biodiversity across the landholding and ever-increasing activities to promote the appreciation of nature.
The CIEEM shortlisting follows an outstanding year for the PBA Ecology Team, when they were named the 2018 CIEEM ‘Small Scale Ecological Consultancy of the Year. The award recognised the teams’ commitment to the delivery of high-quality practical outcomes that benefit business, the economy and nature, among other achievements.
Elaine Richmond, Environment Director, said:
“We are delighted to be shortlisted for another CIEEM award. Winning the ‘Small Scale Ecological Consultancy of the Year’ Award in 2018 and being shortlisted for the ‘Best Practice - Large-scale Nature Conservation’ Award this year, is recognition of the drive, expertise and hard work of the PBA Ecology Team. We are very much looking forward to attending the Awards Ceremony in London in June 2019.”
PBA’s Ecology team works throughout the UK and is based across our Reading, Bristol, Manchester, Glasgow and Cambridge offices. The team provides authoritative ecological consultancy advice to clients pursuing varied projects including land development, infrastructure and energy projects working throughout the planning lifecycle.
