PBA worked collaboratively to help secure planning consent for this strategic urban extension, adjacent to the M1 near Dunstable, which will provide 5,150 new homes, 130,000 square metres of commercial use, including major employment units, and 12,500 square metres of retail.
We were awarded the work on the strength of our ability to support major development projects across the entire development and infrastructure spectrum. Our experience of working with strategic utility providers in the area was instrumental, as was our experience in diverting overhead power lines.
We co-ordinated the complex EIA and undertook technical disciplines to support the project. Our acoustics and air quality team also played a key role; using computer modelling to assess the impact of road traffic noise and emissions and propose appropriate mitigation measures.
Our environmental planners ensured close working of the environmental specialists to provide integrated mitigation solutions. This not only led to better environmental solutions but increased efficiency in the use of land and development potential at the site.
