PBA is providing civil engineering design support to Galloper Wind Farm Limited, a joint venture between RWE npower renewables and Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE).
Located 27 kilometres of the Suffolk Coast at its nearest point, Galloper Wind Farm will comprise 100 wind turbines potentially generating 350 megawatts, as an extension to the Greater Gabbard Offshore Wind Farm.
Galloper has the potential to supply hundreds of thousands of UK households with renewable energy. Our work is for the onshore substation element of the wind farm from where exported power is connected to the National Grid. We have provided engineering design for the onshore landform proposals for the sub-station and access road, this facilitated the landscape and visual proposals, and mitigation of their impacts, as part of the DCO application.
We also carried out surveys and managed investigations across the site area and the cable route, and provided project management support to the onshore consent team as it prepared to discharge conditions imposed through the DCO process. We continue to work on the detailed design for the enabling works contract and supervise the ground investigation at the onshore site.
