Economic Advisory Work, Plymouth City Council

PBA has been working with Plymouth City Council for over ten years on a range of multidisciplinary projects delivering the whole range of planning support services, including:

  • Plymouth sub area study – PBA worked in partnership with the City Council to examine the housing market area and explore the options for delivering development through the emerging joint Local Plan.
  • Evidence base reports – PBA has produced a considerable number of evidence studies for the City Council including: Urban Fringe Development Plan Document, Employment Land Review, Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment, Retail and Town Centre Studies, and Housing Requirement Study.
  • Viability assessment of strategic sites, local plan policies, the national space standards and CIL – PBA has provided advice on these key issues and are currently updating the viability work for the City Council and exploring the implications of changing and emerging legislation.
  • Facilitating workshops and delivering bespoke training – PBA has consistently worked with the City Council to run officer and member workshops on a range of issues relating to plan making and the evidence base. The most recent work has involved the design and delivery of a core skills programme for the planning and development teams providing a series of presentations and workshops on how to be effective strategic thinkers, engaging effectively with developer and delivering positive change.
