Collegelands is a designated regeneration area to the east of Glasgow city centre, designed to bring a substantial plot of former railway and industrial land back into active use.
PBA is the lead consultant for the design of a new 432-bedroom student residence, which was given planning permission in August 2015.
PBA provided project management, planning, transportation, civil, structural and mechanical & electrical engineering services, in addition to co-ordinating the design and application process. The building makes innovative use of SUDS features by discharging all of the building runoff from roof level to an adjacent canal.
This will be the second section of the canal in Collegelands which will be planted with wetland species to encourage wildlife, but will also feature a new bridge and canal side seating as part of the wider green network in this area of Glasgow.
This is Vastint’s first student residence project in Europe and will become their flagship scheme once constructed.
